Monday 27th Feb

Monday 27th Feb a dull but dry day Just spent a few hours on its first day out
All went well no mishaps did around 30 Miles to Windsor Castle through Eton College
A good ride to just get things in, after a few miles one of the calliper pads needed pulling back one notch and all worked well, and had to tweak the gears from time to time to bring it back in as its all new and needs time to bed in, no problem. Had the tyres around 80 PSI and it felt great, and I am finding a nice difference in the 10 speed and finding the gears I like, I have ridden Saturday and Sunday on the Tandem so my legs where a bit lets say feeling aching , so it was nice that the spread of 10 gears made the ride less stressing shall we say. And when I was feeling up to it put my feet down and it responded so well with a nice turn of speed, exactly what I wanted of it. I know I am going to have some fun when my legs are rested and fresh. And role on the summer.
Overall opinion a great feeling of satisfaction can one ask for more?

In a few weeks time my Captain on the Greenspeed GTT will be taking delivery of his New Sprint RSX so will be getting in some long rides soon.
I think its going to be a good year of recumbent trike riding.

Are there any ICE owners or any trike owners this side of London that would be interested in joining in with a few rides? With us or with the West middx Club who we ride with on most Sundays

21st Feb New Ice Sprint RSX

Took delivery of new trike to day.
Only having ordered the new sprint on the Thursday, it was delivered to my home on the Tuesday.
I had cleared a space to assemble and unpack the two boxes, the large box containing the sprint. It was really well packed and well protected and I spent a few hours unpacking and laying out a plan of assembly, not having the sight to read the Bible of the worshiping assembly manuals, I relied on the knowledge gained from working on my RS sprint and a life time of fixing engines motorbikes and cars and many a cycle. And the almost it must have seemed like stroking phone calls to Ice for help, every time I rang I was met with more information and instructions than I had thought of asking about, one is never on one's own with an ICE Trike, even got to talk to the guy that built my trike.
I decided to take the long term assembly and take my time with many tea brakes just to sit and delight myself with what eye sight I have left with what was coming together out of the Box. I spent about 5 Hrs on it that day and got the main parts assembled, had a mishap offering and fitting the gear to hanger, but got there in the end with the help of ICE and then on inspection I had threaded the front gear wire in the wrong hole ! Decided to call it a day have a bath a nice cup of tea and curl up with an audio book. Over the next few days slowly assembled the rest together, all in all its very straight forward and I would not put any one off assembling it one's self if you have a smattering of knowledge and a good tool set however only used a few tools and a set of star keys I had to buy to put the disks on, but that's good as I have them now for future use. I found it rewarding and it feels like yours when you put it together yourself plus you will have a good knowledge if anything goes wrong out on a ride to fix it yourself. I did ask for the chain and gearing to be set up for me and was so done. Last night got the Computer clock working; I thought I had gone mad as it would not work on bike but OK in my hand?? Again with help from ICE, turns out that I did not have it in direct facing so a little adjustment of the sender got it working ok. All that was left was the alignment and adjustment of the brake callipers which was not a long Job and then to check out the adjustment of the gearing, so the first ride, adjusted the handle bars checked braking and pushed off into the blue yonder, well not quite as it was running just out so pulled it in on the adjuster but could not get sufficient movement, it was getting dark so thought I would leave it and start with a fresh mind. So All I have to do is the chain alignment. It's a great looking trike, very black and very impressive with the 10 speed pack and the shram hanging there at the back. Will have a play with it to night should not be difficult.

24th Feb
Nice one took it out for it first long run, 10 miles and adjusted the rear derailleur brought it in bit by bit well pleased running 100% feels really fin rolls well the tyres are excellent, and the TT gear changing toggles are really positive the gearing over all feels really positive, its all tight with the newness and will be interesting as it loosens off over time, had one more check around tightening all the nuts and bolts.
Only one thing I just cant work out? I keep loosening flags! Or breaking them, came back to night and there Mmm no flag!! that was the new one to LOL.
Looking forward to a good long rid.

Thanks ICE for all the advice and help

I am now on the dark side.

Saturday 11th Feb

I have to admit the last few rides on the Greenspeed Tandem I have been suffering with knee Problems and pan in the legs
So much so I was beginning to think that it was just too much for me!
However on talking to the experts I lengthened the leg fitting on my Ice sprint to just longer than on a my two wheeled Bike, although I was not having problems in the sprint I felt that I was getting more power threw to the back wheel, so I lengthened the Greenspeed to Mach my sprint again just longer then the two wheeled bike.
After today’s ride which was only around 38 miles but what a different!! No pain in my   knees
Or the mussels, the shift have altered what part of the leg muscle is being used back up the leg from the knee, an excellent result really pleased.
It seems over the 1000 miles we have done on this tandem my leg muscles have developed as I now ride only trikes and I have not ridden a Bike in over 9 months, I commute every day in my Ice spring around 6 miles each way and most weekend I am on the Greenspeed, plus during the summer I did tour around Kent on the sprint,   the leg muscle have changed. Interesting I am tempted to try a long ruin on my Thorn Shaper 26” to see what’s changed but not till the better weather.
But I think I have trike legs now I am now part of the collective I have been assimilated, resistant’s is futile. I am now on the dark side.

ICE TRIKE IN THE SNOW 5 Feb 2012

At last some snow! I brought the Winter tyres a few weeks back
And have been waiting for snow to try them out, over all great fun
And they work well, don’t thing I would like to do a long ride with them on
As there a bit hard work but in a low gear there fine, I got them for commuting to work on
As I hate the bus!! There saying a freeze to night so they may well be ideal tomorrow.

Little tip for a wet seat, I borrow my darters hear drier and play it under the seat on the sponge
And on the top it take about 15 m to get it to a point where it should dry out over night .
